In the heart of Oranjestad, inside a restored colonial home built in 1898, a distinctly Aruban story is being poured one bottle at a time.
Pepe Margo Distillery takes its name from Catarina Margarita Arends Wever, known as Pepe Margo. The historic house that carries her name was once part of the community she served, and today it has been given new life as the home of Aruba’s boutique distillery.
The setting matters. This is not simply a place where spirits are produced. The restored house connects every tasting and distillery visit to a deeper sense of place. Its rooms hold more than a century of island history, while the bottles created inside introduce a new chapter of Aruban craftsmanship.
Pepe Margo produces rum, gin and liqueurs that reflect the warmth and personality of the island. Its signature aged rum is rich and complex, while expressions such as aloe vera liqueur offer a flavor closely connected to Aruba’s landscape. Each product is made to carry something of the island beyond its shores.
Visitors can go behind the bottle through guided experiences at the distillery. The Barrel Experience includes a walkthrough of the production process, access to the ageing house and a tasting flight. For guests who want to explore the craft more deeply, the Master Distiller’s Session offers live distillation, barrel tastings and the opportunity to create a personal rum blend.
What makes the experience memorable is the combination of history, craftsmanship and conversation. Guests are not only tasting a locally made spirit. They are meeting the people behind it, learning how each expression is created and experiencing a historic Aruban home from the inside.
Pepe Margo represents the kind of entrepreneurship Authentic Aruba celebrates. It protects a meaningful place, creates something proudly Aruban and gives visitors a personal way to connect with the island.
Every bottle carries a story. At Pepe Margo, that story begins with a historic home, continues through local creativity and is shared with every guest who walks through the door.
